 63% of women think mums are depicted in clichéd ways in advertising.

 

·      2 in 3 women (66%) think advertisers have now recognised that women are now equally important in purchasing decisions beyond just food.

 

·      48% of adults think most advertising reinforces gender stereotypes.

 

·       Nearly half (48%) of women think the biggest challenge facing women in Ireland this year is getting the work life balance to a happy medium, 45% think the biggest challenge is having children while trying to build a career, and 40% think the challenge is tackling violence against women.

 

·       59% think that advertising has got better in how it depicts women, however only 23% of women think women and girls are portrayed accurately in the media and advertising.

Over half (54%) of adults think women have to over-perform in the workplace to get the same recognition as men.

 

·      Only 18% of employees say their workplace is running events or activities in support of International Women’s Day.

 

·       49% of workplaces who are running events for International Women’s Day have organised motivational or keynote speakers, 21% have team bonding/ team building activities, and 19% are doing gender workshops.

 

·       2 in 3 adults (64%) think women carry a huge guilt burden when they have to take time off to look after sick children and 42% of women think having children has affected their career path.

 

·       51% of adults support gender quotas at senior levels across companies and organisations and 50% think having a gender quota in government is a good idea.

 

·       37% of women have experienced sexism in the workplace and 25% of women have experienced ageism in the workplace.
