With the spread of the Omicron variant, 1 in 3 of all adults in Ireland have changed or cancelled overseas travel plans.

18% are no longer travelling overseas – including almost 1 in 4 (23%) men.

12% have postponed travel plans until later in the year.

9% are sticking with their travel plans.

iReach has surveyed adults in Ireland to determine how Omicron has affected travel plans during Winter.

·       Overall, most (55%) hadn’t planned any holidays – though men were much more likely (64%) to have planned holidays than women (46%).

·       18% of all adults in Ireland have cancelled their plans to travel overseas. When considering only those who had plans to travel – almost half (42%) have had to cancel them.

·       A further 28% of those who planned to travel have postponed their holidays. Almost half (48%) of 25-34 year-olds who had plans have now postponed them.

·       Almost 1 in 4 (23%) of those with holiday plans are determined to keep them. This includes over 1 in 3 (35%) of those aged 55+ compared to much lower rates in younger age groups – only 7% of 18-24 year olds and 5% of 25-34 year olds aren’t changing their holiday plans.
