The majority (94%) of the
Irish population recycles and 95% bring their bags with them when grocery
shopping.

Today, the
environment is becoming a bigger concern for adults in Ireland. It is
constantly deteriorating, and we are becoming more and more aware of it. iReach
Insights conducted a nationally representative survey of 1001 adults in Ireland
about the environment and their daily environmental habits.
Protecting
the environment is becoming increasingly important for people living in
Ireland. In 2019, 70% of the population think it is important to continue
protecting the environment. That is 7% more than in 2018
(63%).
Households
are becoming increasingly conscious about their waste management with 94% of
adults in Ireland stating that they recycle. 90% of adults use efficient energy
bulbs and 93% turn off the lights when they aren’t in use.
In general,
82% of the Irish population uses recycled goods. The majority Irish people
(95%) bring their bags for the grocery shop. 70% of adults in Ireland buy
environmentally friendly products and 79% try to buy Irish products. 62% of
adults use a reusable coffee cup. Finally, 77% of consumers prefer products
with little packaging or recycled packaging.
The main
environmental problems for adults in Ireland in 2019 are: 1. Global warming
(74%), 2. Water pollution (69%) and 3. Water Disposal (67%).
According to this
research, 84% of population want to play an important role in protecting the
environment and 89% of them agree that "A big change starts with a tiny
habit".
