69% of all adults think that St. Patrick’s Day feeds into the stereotypes of drinking.

 

·       42% of adults think far too much alcohol is consumed on St. Patrick’s Day and 30% think a lot of alcohol is consumed.

 

·        49% of adults think the St. Patrick’s Day parades abroad are better than the parades here in Ireland.

 

 

·        Over half (53%) of respondents think St. Patrick’s Day is too commercialised these days.

 

 

·        45% of adults will celebrate the holiday at home with family/ friends, 25% will go to the parade, and 23% will go for drinks. 18% of respondents will not celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

 

 

·        The majority (82%) of adults are proud that St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated around the world and 66% think the holiday portrays Ireland in a positive way.
