60% of all adults were planning to go abroad before the Covid-19 outbreak and 18% were planning a Staycation in Ireland. 48% have already cancelled their overseas holiday plans and 11% cancelled Staycations.


With the European Commission stating that Airlines must give refunds for cancelled flights and cannot force them to accept vouchers instead, iReach has surveyed adults in Ireland to measure such impacts on their holiday plans for 2020.

·     60% of all adults were planning to go abroad before the Covid-19 outbreak and 18% were planning a Staycation in Ireland.

·     48% of respondents who were planning on travelling abroad this summer have had to cancel their plans and 11% have cancelled their Staycation plans for 2020.

·     20% are still hoping for a Staycation later this year with a further 23% having given-up on overseas travel and are now planning a Staycation. This change in holiday plans is highest amongst those aged 55+ reaching 30%.

·     24% are still hoping to go abroad later this year with 24% feeling it will be safe to travel before the end of 2020.

·     55% believe it will be safe to travel abroad in 2021 and 21% believe in will be 2022 before they feel safe to travel overseas.

With Covid-19 restrictions easing from Monday next, 49% are looking forward to seeing family members outside of their household.  71% of all adults are most looking forward to being freely able to go outdoors with no restrictions, 60% are looking forward to being able to travel and drive without restrictions.

iReach has completed a nationwide survey of Adults in Ireland to learn about what they are looking forward to most with Covid-19 restrictions easing in the coming days and weeks. 
iReach Survey data shows that 31% of adults are working from home now and 21% have lost their jobs and are not working anymore.

·        71% of all adults are looking forward to being able to go outdoors with no restrictions, 60% are looking forward to being able to travel and drive without restrictions.

·        18% will be happy having children back to school and 21% are looking forward to getting back to work.

·      Post lockdown 49% are looking forward to seeing family members outside of their household, 12% are excited to eat out in restaurants again and 10% are looking forward to having a night out with friends.

·      51% of respondents are a lot more anxious at the moment due to the Covid-19 outbreak compared to their anxiety levels before.

Top Way People Are Reliving their anxiety
1. 64% of respondents are reliving their anxiety by going for a walk. 11% are going for a run, 58% of people are getting fresh air, 41% are getting exercise and 40% are gardening.

 2. 27% are enjoying video calls with friends, 19% are having video calls with their family and 33% are cooking for their family to relive stress and anxiety.


3. 56% of adults are watching tv and movies, 18% are binging box sets, while 45% are reading more.
