The
Irish government announced the 2019 budget earlier in the month. With this in
mind, we conducted a nationally representative survey on 1,000 adults in
Ireland to discover how they feel about the budget for 2019.
83%
of adults in Ireland have heard or read about the budget for 2019.The older
age cohorts are more likely to read or hear about it (72% - 18-34-year old’s,
87% - 35-54-year old’s and 90% of 55+ year old’s).
Of
those who have heard or read about the budget, only 12% of these feel
positive about it, 52% feel indifferent and 28% feel negative about it. 8%
were unsure.
67%
believe that the housing crisis is not
going to improve in the next year, 15% think it will improve and 18% are
unsure.
76%
don’t think the homelessness crisis will be resolved, 9% think it will be and
15% are unsure.
In
summary, the majority (83%) of people have read or heard something about the
budget but half (52%) of these feel indifferent about Budget 2019.
