accept an all-expenses paid trip to the USA for the World Cup, significantly
lower than Mexico or Canada.
- Almost 4 years on, more
than 2 in 3 (70%) say their perception of the World Cup is negatively impacted
by the treatment of migrant workers in Qatar.

This is
highest for adults aged 18-34 with 72% saying this has negatively impacted
their perception of the World Cup.

16% say they would’ve travelled to the World
Cup had their favoured team qualified.

Almost 1 in 4
(23%) Males say they would’ve travelled.
- Cost
of tickets (37%) is the biggest deterrent for those who didn’t want to go.
- Additionally,
1 in 3 (33%) say they wouldn’t have gone because they wouldn’t want to
travel to the USA.
- Almost 3 in 4 (74%) view the World Cup
more negatively due to its association with Donald Trump.
- This
is highest in 25-34 year olds at 81%.
- 7 in
10 (70%) view the World Cup more negatively due to the ‘Peace prize’ given
to Donald Trump by Gianni Infantino.
